We are excited to announce this event has been rescheduled online!

You are invited to a panel discussion on ethics in user-experience research and design. Professionals from government, not-for-profit, academic, and private sectors have been invited to discuss ethics from their perspective. Following these short talks, we will break out into virtual rooms to discuss specific themes in smaller groups. Afterwards, we will return to the main room to for a moderated discussion, when we will open the floor to everyone.

With almost twenty years of experience in User Experience Design, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients, from large institutions, to medium-sized companies in highly-technical domains, to small start-ups. I have also had the opportunity to work closely with technology partners to understand their business and product requirements, and have created designs to meet their needs, as well as the needs of their customers.

Chantal Trudel, Professor, Carleton University School of Industrial Design https://carleton.ca/id/profile/chantal-trudel/

Chantal’s experience reflects her appreciation for the role of industrial design within interdisciplinary teams and working with other professions to achieve a comprehensive understanding of people, processes and their context. For over 10 years, she has worked within the field of architecture and interior design, exploring the use, planning and design of spaces and products within complex building systems.

Ken McMillan, Product Line Manager, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat https://www.linkedin.com/in/kennethjamesmcmillan/

Ken McMillan has been the Product Line Manager for Digital Identity and Cybersecurity since April 2018 at Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. His team works on The Pan-Canadian Trust Framework, The Sign-In Canada project for cyber-authentication across governments, and many of the supporting pieces to make identity management easier, faster, and more secure.

Coordinates the Human-Centred Design program at Algonquin College. He has been developing user-experience for products and services for the past twenty years, and his research has examined sustainable development in design school curricula, as well as human factors for augmented and virtual reality systems.
